We received a commission from a dynamically developing IT company for the renovation and transformation of a villa building in Zugló - built in the 1930s - into an office building. The building was a residential building consisting of a basement, 2 storey, and an attic.
During the renovation, we created office spaces on the existing 3 levels and by installing the attic, which all were connected to the staircase built next to the building and connected to the roof form. The new foyer on the ground floor accommodates the reception, a kitchenette, and smaller restrooms, allowing the existing levels to be retained as generous office space. The roof and the added part are a uniform mass of sloping planes, which was separated from the existing building above the ledge and to the side by facade retractions and a glass strip. The new, sculpturally shaped mass has been given a copper plate cladding that harmonizes with the wooden decorations and the warm colors of the stone and brick cladding of the existing building. Thanks to the alloying materials of the golden copper, it retains its color and darkens only slightly during patination.
